The reason for 320 kbps default settings' low-pass filter @ 20,5 kHz is exactly to save bit rate to use it for much important/audible frequencies below that mark. If someone just wants lossless-wannabe spectrum look (and yet file size is so important that keeping source lossless file is no-no) then AAC does it much better
