No worries, accidents happen.
There are several tools to check the bitrate of a music file. I use http://spek.cc/ . It's easy to use and got several good functions. If you look at several different music files to try, you'll quickly recognize typical differences between several file formats and bitrates, e.g. 320kbps mp3s end at 20 kHz.
