and a double big mac with a diet coke of course :P

Yes, sir :P

seconding this :DD

on no jk now: does one need an account at deezer to download stuff? someone cares to explain how to do so, like downloading from deezer, spotify, google play? I'd prefer irc if it's possible or anyone cares

lol i also want to know this :(
i would even collect the stuff by myself. I just want the knowledge pls

It is all done by magic :) also, spotify is not the best thing to do this since it's reencodes files from some other format.

Spotify indeed reencodes the files they're supplied with by Record companies to 320kbps Ogg files which are then reencoded to 320 kbps MP3 files by the tools we use. But since the bitrate is kept the same a change quality, if there is any, is not noticeable. If you can tell the difference between a song ripped from as CD as a WAVE file and as a 320kbps file you might frown upon the Spotify rips. If not, there's no reason to frown upon it.

I prefer WEB downloads as well, but since that's a costly business I'm glad I can "hoard" music for my oldschool DJ sets for a low price.

Quality change is indeed unoticable, but personaly I'm too picky when it comes to this, that's why is prefer Google Music for my hoarding pleasures :)

they are not good for mixing purposes, they are good for listening on an ipod, if you aren't an audiophile that's all.if you are playing bad rips with bad distortion anyone who knows anything will know right away where you got what you are playing and probably won't be so happy about it or if you are Catscan then you won't give a shit because he does the same thing.

Is it that obvious? It might be me, but I don't really hear anything strange when using these tracks on my XDJ's. As far as I can tell the quality of Spotify/Deezer is just fine.

I recall reading somewhere that double-compression at 320kbps yields artefacts equivalent to ~200kbps (don't remember the exact quote — correct me if you have more accurate information).
However if spotify is being supplied with MP3s by the record companies, then we'd get triple-compression by ripping spotify to MP3. At this point I'd start to worry.

Though a badly-encoded file is still better than none at all.

Exactly, you are correct that it is better than nothing at all and beggars cannot be choosers lol but, yeah it's noticeable. Download Traktor or VDJ and play some youtube rips and or tracks that are rencodes etc when you play them with mastered files you can hear the difference by a mile especially to somebody who has been producing for many years and playing vinyl they will know right away.

The distortion is so bad it hurts lol, I'm not talking about differences between vbr and 320 etc. and if you are just doing it for you and at home then who cares but if you are passing mixes around and hope to get booked be aware and becareful that's all. I'm not saying anything against the people who rip etc.. Do whatever you wish. I guess if you are unable to tell that's maybe you why you are a raver, club goer, or sit at home listener and not someone who plays and is in tuned with sound and music.

I noticed with the google play ones they seem to be better sounding then the spotify rips and what you said explains why that is.

I prefer a direct WEB over a Spotify rip as well, but until then this will do. Though there are no real guarantees. In some cases those shops sell upconverted songs as well

"Everything oldschool" — what kind of request is this…
at least compile a list of specific tracks / releases / artists / labels to look for, and identify which ones you already have.

It was joke man. It wasn't a serious one. Judging by the first few posts I thought that was obvious.
I'm sorry if it's seen as being spam. I just wanted to laugh a bit :P

i see
i guess i assumed it would've been closed if that were the case
